Here it is! I have finally created a blog -- I figured it would be a good way to document my time in Japan as well as keep all of our friends and family updated on what we are up to!
As most people know, Nick and I just got married in St. Lucia a week and a half ago and we are going to Japan for six months for Nick to train at the Nissan center in Atsugi. We will be living in Zama, Kanagawa, Japan, which is about an hour train ride west from Tokyo. Our apartment is small by American standards, but spacious in Japanese standards. It is 500 square feet total, and has two bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom and living area. So, for anyone who is interested in visiting, we will have a spare room!
I'm not quite sure what I will be doing yet. Because Nick is on a training visa, so am I, so I will have to find other ways to make money (no, not prostitution for my mind-in-the-gutter readers).
So, for the past week and a half, I have been packing the house. Our housesitter, Chris, and my brother Christopher have moved in (well, techincally my brother moves in this weekend) and they are both trying to get to know the cats. I have the boxes nearly packed, so now it is time to start packing the bags we will take with us on the plane. I also forgot that I have to go get my license renewed since it expires in November, and I won't be here then (such a pain in the ass). But, I should be able to get everything done by Tuesday morning, which is when our flight leaves from DTW. We will be flying from DTW to Portland, Oregon and then to Tokyo. I am excited to go, but am dreading the 13 hour flight, which will actually take a little longer because of the layover in Portland. Thankfully, Nick has secured exit row seats for the Portland to Tokyo flight (I hope nothing goes wrong with that!) so we will have a little space to stretch out. I think I will be very thankful for alcohol and my video ipod on that flight!
