Well here we are back at Friday again! It's amazing how fast the past week has gone even though I haven't been doing much.
Wednesday night we did end up going to that sushi-on-a-conveyor-belt place and it was not good. The first pieces I had looked like they were some kind of fried gyoza or something so I thought it would be crunchy -- nope, the coating was soggy and there was just rice on the inside. Although I was dissappointed with my first choice, it ended up being the best part of my experience there as it only went downhill after that. I should have known it was not going to be good when Nick tasted the sushi on his plate (salmon and two other unidentifiable fish) and said it was not that good. Next I selected something I thought to be some kind of butterfish (there were no labels, so it was a guessing game). It was very rubbery and chewy, and not at all like butterfish, and Nick guessed that it might be octopus, which seemed logical. After that, I decided to be brave one more time and picked a plate that looked like some kind of white tuna. This fish was even more rubbery and chewy than the previous one! At that point I said "I give up" and I had pretty much lost my appetite by that point anyway. So we paid and left. It was only around 1000 yen, not bad for a sushi place, although we didn't eat that much LOL! After our experience there, we tried to find another place to eat. We went to the food court in the mall, and there was nothing there that appealed to us, although there was a KFC, and that remained a possibility for a few minutes. There was also a place called Freshness Burger, and that and Outback, along with KFC became our choices. Nick said he felt like a burger, but that he wasn't sure he felt like a Freshness Burger, so we decided on Outback, for the 2nd night in a row. I got a soup and salad, and he got a burger and it was all far more satisfying than the yucky sushi we had just tried. I am sure we will find a place with excellent sushi -- I can't wait! :)
Yesterday I did nothing -- well I did watch all three Back to the Future movies, but really I did nothing. At this point I think I am sufficiently rested and my cold seems nearly gone, thankfully. Nick got home a little after 7pm (so really I didn't finish Back to the Future 3, I made it about 3/4 of the way through) and I made us a chicken and brocolli stir-fry. It was good, but I used what I think is soy sauce for the seasoning, and the brocolli soaked it all up and therefore the pieces were really salty, so I will have to pick up some other kind of sauce for the future -- which is hard to do since all of the bottles are in Japanese. But it was still good, and our first home-cooked meal in Japan!
Today it is raining again, and it is starting to smell a little moldy in the bedroom, so I think the futons need to be aired out (common in Japan, you see everyone with their futons hanging out on their balconies), unfortunately I can't hang them out in the rain, as that would not really solve the dampness problem in them, so I think I will just spread them out on the floor. This morning I might do a little light exercise as I feel like a cow since I've been eating and just laying around all week, and then this afternoon they are coming to deliver the stuff we shipped from the US! YAY! Hopefully customs didn't confiscate too much of it! Tonight I am meeting Nick and his co-workers in Hon Atsugi. They are throwing a welcome party for us, and I am excited! Tomorrow the only plan is to possibly go scooter shopping (although we won't be able to buy one yet because we still don't have our alien cards), and maybe grocery shopping. Sunday we are meeting one of Nick's co-workers from Sano in Tokyo for him to show us around, and Monday is supposed to be a national holiday called Sports Day, but Nick is not sure if he has it off yet, anyway it should be a nice weekend! If it stops raining, of course :)

which movie was it said that sushi = bait?
Last night, in Vegas, an Outback caught on fire. Wicked grease fire my guess.
It rained here yesterday and today. First and second time I have seen it rain in the last 7 months!
Scooters are fun.
